In a few decades from a modest fishing port, the city was transformed with the monumental Senate Square in the new capital of the Grand Duchy of the Russian Empire.

Our walk will take you through the elegant historic streets to head towards the majestic Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral. From the Katajanokka promontory we will return to the beating heart of the city, the Market Square with its inevitable sauna and the covered Market. In the immediate vicinity we will find the lively tree-lined Esplanad boulevard, famous for its designer shops.
